The last few secs - Patience

A couple of days ago, I had gone out for a trip and was coming back late night around 11.30 pm or so. As, I approached an intersection, the traffic signal had Red lights ON with the indicator saying about 40 secs left. So, I switched off my bike and was waiting patiently. In the mean time, the other connecting road in the junction had the Green lights ON, but no vehicle was passing through it. And to my utter dissapointment, the vehicles behind me started to move.

Another aspect of this traffic signal mess occured at the same day at an another traffic signal. So, after getting through the previous signal, I came to another intersection. Here, there was only 10 sec left before the Green lights came ON. People were waiting patiently till 4-5 sec was left. And then suddenly, everybody started to go. They didnt have the courtesy or patience to wait for another 5 sec. I was ridiculed for waiting for the Red light to go OFF and the Green lights come ON. People started honking and they made me to move over and make way for them to go on. Here, this 5 sec was actually for the walking people to cross the road. Even though there werent any of them, my guess is that this routinely happens even during peak time. The vehicle owners dont bother about the pedestrains at all. As soon as they see its 5 sec they start goin and the pedestrains start running towards the side of the road, else they are given a scare by the oncoming traffic.

As educated people, we should take the responsibility and follow traffic rules and lanes. This following rules not only applies to the traffic but also in other walks of life. We should take up the onus on us to follow the rules as a routine job, not to be forced to do it.

Medicine in India - Sale of Degrees

In India, with the population increasing exponentially health and infrastructure facilities are facing a severe crisis. There is a severe crisis of good qualified doctors. The qualified ones are very overworked. Also, they become mentally fatigued. To overcome the problem, the government is starting to liberalize medical degree. Hence, a lot of private colleges are mushrooming up. These college, other than taking students through the common entrance test held by the government also take in students through their own management quota system. These students taken in through management quota are generally rich. They pay a donation running into lacs and lacs of rupees and join the college. They somehow manage to clear the exams and get a medical degree.

Now, these people with a professional degree in hand start practicing their profession. They are not able to diagnose the disease properly. They tend to look for symptoms and never are able to figure out the root cause of the disease. This is leading to a major problem in the public. They do not get the proper treatment and hence, treatment is met out only at a very advanced stage by some old professionals. This is leading to a public outcry against these doctors who are majorly a product of these institutions trying to make money.

I would like to conclude this blog by saying "Medicine is a very noble profession, Kindly let it be that way".
