Medicine in India - Sale of Degrees

In India, with the population increasing exponentially health and infrastructure facilities are facing a severe crisis. There is a severe crisis of good qualified doctors. The qualified ones are very overworked. Also, they become mentally fatigued. To overcome the problem, the government is starting to liberalize medical degree. Hence, a lot of private colleges are mushrooming up. These college, other than taking students through the common entrance test held by the government also take in students through their own management quota system. These students taken in through management quota are generally rich. They pay a donation running into lacs and lacs of rupees and join the college. They somehow manage to clear the exams and get a medical degree.

Now, these people with a professional degree in hand start practicing their profession. They are not able to diagnose the disease properly. They tend to look for symptoms and never are able to figure out the root cause of the disease. This is leading to a major problem in the public. They do not get the proper treatment and hence, treatment is met out only at a very advanced stage by some old professionals. This is leading to a public outcry against these doctors who are majorly a product of these institutions trying to make money.

I would like to conclude this blog by saying "Medicine is a very noble profession, Kindly let it be that way".

If the pass out doctors are made to goto rural areas to provide medical support, they will come face to face with nations inability to provide medical support to rural areas. This should be made compulsory for all doctors to goto village and seve there.

Well, I agree with you manu. But the main problem is due to the fact that the whole health care is creaking due to the inefficiency of these few people.
